Interviews

Team Quince wanted to highlight the experiences of Quinceañeras at different stages of their quince process (past, present, and future Quinces). We set out to conduct short interviews with Quinceañeras to gain their perspective on how they felt the day of their Quince, what it meant to them, and what was the most important part of their day. Here is what they had to say ...

Interview: How do you feel today?

Liliana: I'm Liliana and I feel like very emotional today. Something I look forward to today is dancing with my dad and I'm excited and nervous because I feel like I'm gonna mess up the dance with my chambelanes. But I don't know today hasn't felt real yet.

Interviewer: How do you feel about being fifteen?

Liliana: I feel like it's an important chapter of my life. Like I’m moving towards a woman and like things change like I'm not young anymore. People will treat me as more grown and basically I'm different now.

Interviewer: Tell me about today. What emotions are you going through? What does today mean to you as a Latina?

Rebecca: So, hi my name is Rebecca de la Torre and I turned sixteen well fifteen. So I'm excited I have been planning this Quinceañera for a long time. Since we were small, this is a tradition as a Mexican. So, I'm very excited, very blessed, and grateful to have this Quinceañera and then this celebration means a lot. As you grow from a young kid to a woman so it's a great stage. And then there's so many emotions that I don't even know how to describe them but yeah thank you!
